Not convinced, friendo? Ok, who am I to twist arms? Let's stay with the tried and true Toyota brand and not worry about those guilt feelings. Want to get a new car that, just might be right up your conservative alley? Then check out this Crown sedan.......
Upright, uptight in the old Japanese top of the line car mode. Hard to believe that, Toyota still makes such a car, but they do. For their home market, that is. This would never fly in Europe or on our shores, but for the Empire of the Sun, this fits the bill nicely. Like some Mercedes in Europe, this version of the Crown is used predominantly as a taxi (for people with big hats?).
Maybe a touch small or not exactly the conservatism that, you were considering? Ok, so let's go absolute top of the line Toyota. Get a model that heads of state are seen in. Get a Toyota that looks like it was designed many years ago (it was). And, get one that is thought extremely highly of in its home market (the only place it is sold). This is the Century or maybe they should call it the Last Century by Toyota. Funny how a country like Japan, which is on the fore front of high tech, would even look at a car like the Century. But it endures. Only seen at the best places.
But's let's add a little pizazz, since just because it's a Toyota, it doesn't have to be boring looking.......
This is another version of the Crown, almost a Lexus LS. Big and luxurious. How luxurious? Take a look........
As I said, almost a Lexus, but still a Toyota. Think you could live with yourself coming home with a Crown? Would your neighbours think that, this model was the latest Camry? I'm guessing that they wouldn't. No "Lexus" stigma either. Hey, live well, you've earned it. One caveat........this Crown is not sold in North America.
While driving that old Corolla or Camry, a slight regret comes to mind and that is you've always wanted something a little sporty. Not too much, just a little. One last chance to cross that off the wish list, before sensible becomes your buzz word.
Toyota and "sporty". Not words often found in the same sentence, but wait.......
.........there is still hope for you. Behold the luxurious, but sporty, Crown Athlete. Looks like the same car, but you'll notice the modified grille, with the lightening strike design on the side. Nothing says sporty, like a lightening strike motif. Again though, another Toyota confined to the far eastern market. Although these last two Crown's beat our Avalon for looks, doubtful we'll ever see them on our side of the Pacific. Too bad, as either of them would cream the geriatric Avalon in a beauty contest.
I'm so very sorry for getting you all excited about a new luxury model Toyota. One, that you can drive with your head held high. One, that says you've arrived, or at least bought the ticket. One, that is not a Lexus. Sorry, that every one I've shown you only works if you move to Japan, the home market. You are stuck now aren't you? Except, even an ultra luxury Toyota might play head games with you. Come on, you know what you have to do.........
.......yep, back to another Camry. Chose a luxury car colour, nice rims and hit the push to start button. Way to go, brother. Peace at last.
Until next time......
