Wave that Old Glory, Granny and let all those other folks know that you are a true patriotic American on this July 4th, Independence Day. No matter what you or I may think of our neighbours to the south, they love their country and never hesitate to show it. I love Canada and after celebrating our 150th birthday this past weekend, I realize, yet again, how lucky we are to call this great land of ours home. If there is one thing I would change though, it would be that we could adopt just a little bit more of the Americans' love of country. But moving on........
Since this is a car blog, how does patriotism fit into today's topic? Quite easily actually, like when was the last time (or even the first time), you saw a car painted with the Canadian flag? But, how about Old Glory? You name the vehicle and someone, somewhere would have shown their feelings for their country with a US flag paint job.......
Patriotism. Great to have love of country and even better to have the ability to paint your wheels like your country's cherished symbol. Go ahead, pick a vehicle and I can show you someone who has gone wild with red, white and blue paint.
Semi truck? Of course and easy, as I seen lots (tons, even) of them done up this way.......
Race car? Gee, you aren't making this too difficult, are you? Starting with one of the first race cars to show the flag motiff back in the late '60's, was this famous road racing 'Vette.........
......to this present day NASCAR stocker.........
This was and is an easy way to get the fans onboard. I mean, afterall, how could you not root for a car bearing your country's flag? You certainly couldn't boo it, even if it was being driven by that oval track bad boy, Kyle Busch.
Even a few municipalities have painted their police cars up in the stars and stripes........
Not a little flag decal on the trunk lid for these cities. No way, Jose (I mean John), these guys are going full tilt patriotism, so when in those towns and cities, you better watch out and walk straight. Maybe salute when these cruisers go by?
Now, what else could be painted up like this? Or, how else could cars be featured in a car blog about the American flag? How about getting a bunch of red, white and blue car owners together and making a group shot? Maybe something like this featuring that American icon, the Corvette.......
Or possibly, do the same thing with another icon, the Jeep and add a few stars for effect.......
Either way, something to do when friends get together for a group shot.
Before I sign off, there must be a Canadian contingent of patriots with some red and white paint. Somewhere, somebody must be willing to show our flag on their vehicular pride and joy. Well, this was a difficult search, but I finally got a pic of a true Canadian patriot.......
Until next time.......
