Do you see the difference between the left and right door panels? Even Stevie Wonder could see that one is light grey while the other is dark grey. Makes sense, right, since they are on different sides of the car? Sure, but this is only a small part of the problem.
What we have here in this picture, that has been cruising the net recently, is only the tip of Tesla's iceberg. Production issues and quality problems have been cursing Tesla's stellar reputation for the past year, all the while the other car companies have been ramping up to take a shot at the perceived number one EV brand. The car all the early adopters flocked to was the gorgeous S, then the dumpy X........
.......and now the equally dumpy looking Model 3........
Jaguar has been showing their new I-Pace around to great reviews and just look at those beautiful lines......
Sure, so far the range doesn't match Tesla's.......yet, but all big cities have a Jag dealer for service or warranty work and there is that famous name.
Look at what Mercedes has just unveiled.......
.......their new EQC , in the first of what will be several body styles and all will proudly carry that three pointed star. Pretty compelling argument not to get a Tesla, now you can get the Mercedes reputation, reliability and that oh so catchy(?) name. And, it would be my guess that Benz hasn't sold any vehicles with mismatched door panels since Fido's great, great, great, grandparents were pups.
Tesla has to be concerned. The Model 3's quality has not been terrific. Not so good in a car that is selling for up to over $100k Cdn. Production has lagged, which means not enough money is being returned to Tesla's coffers fast enough. And speaking of money, word is that Tesla is burning thru it much faster than the competitions' gas powered vehicles are going thru their fossil fuels.
Now the third German lux brand, Audi, is also just about ready to bring the the first of their new EV line to market, the E-Tron........
No dumpy Tesla design for these guys.
And add to these three newbies what is coming down the pike from VW and a host of other manufacturers. Tesla has reason to be concerned. No longer will they be the darling of the EV buyers. The early adopters have already adopted. Tesla could be on shaky ground. They should get moving and get a strong partner, who has some coin and more importantly, knows how to mass produce.
Time is fleeting, Tesla and you've been warned.
Until next time.........
